Kingston IronKeyT Keypad 200 is an OS-independent, hardware-encrypted USB flash drive with an alphanumeric keypad for easy-to-use PIN access.
The KP200 features XTS-AES 256-bit hardware encryption. It is also FIPS 140-3 Level 3 (pending) certified for military-grade security with enhancements that further raise the bar for data protection. Its circuitry is coated with a special epoxy layer that makes it virtually impossible to remove components without damaging them; this tough epoxy stops attacks on semiconductor components. The reader is designed to be tamper-resistant to alert owners. It also features Brute Force password attack protection and BadUSB protection with digitally signed firmware. The alphanumeric keypad is coated with a polymer layer that protects the keys and masks key usage by scanning fingerprints on the keys.
The KP200 uses a built-in rechargeable battery that can first be used to unlock the drive without using any software, and then plug it into any device that supports a USB Type-A mass storage device. This gives users the greatest flexibility across different types of platforms and operating systems.
With the Multi-PIN (Admin/User) option, the keypad can be used to set an alphanumeric PIN that is easy to remember but difficult for the administrator or user to guess. The administrator can restore a user PIN and allow access to the drive if the user PIN is forgotten or the drive is locked after reaching the maximum of 10 user login attempts. When both the admin and user PINs are enabled, the KP200 will lock the user PIN after 10 unsuccessful login attempts; if the admin PIN is entered incorrectly 10 times in a row, the brute force protection will encrypt the drive, destroy the data forever, and reset the drive.
The drive also offers two levels of read-only (or write-protect) modes: a global mode that can be set by the administrator and a session-only mode that can be set by the user. Read-only modes can protect the drive from malware on untrusted systems. Additionally, the administrator can load content and set the Global Read-Only mode, so that the user can access the data without making any changes.
FIPS 140-3 Level 3 Certified (Pending)
The KP200 now meets the new FIPS 140-3 Level 3 military-grade security specifications published by NIST. This is an enhanced version of the FIPS 140-2 specifications that further improves the drive’s security capabilities and tamper resistance. It features 256-bit XTS-AES encryption as well as protection against Brute Force and BadUSB attacks with digitally signed firmware. Its circuitry is covered with a special epoxy layer that makes it virtually impossible to remove components without damaging them; this tough epoxy stops attacks on semiconductor components.
Operating system and device independent
With the KP200 using a rechargeable battery, the keypad can be used to unlock the drive without using any software and then plug it into any system that supports a USB Type-A mass storage device. This gives users the greatest flexibility across different types of platforms and operating systems.
Multi-PIN option
Users have the option to set up a User or Admin/User mode. Admin can be used to restore a user PIN and provide access to the reader in case the user PIN is forgotten or the reader is locked after reaching the maximum of 10 user login attempts.
Global and session read-only modes (write protection)
The administrator and user can set a session-based read-only mode to protect the drive from malware on untrusted systems. The administrator can also set a Global Read-Only mode that sets the drive to Read-Only mode until reset.
