How the product works
4 of the switch's 8 auto-negotiated RJ45 ports (port 1 to port 4) support Power over Ethernet (PoE). These PoE ports can detect and supply power to any IEEE 802.3af-compliant Powered Device. Power is transmitted along with data in a single cable, allowing you to extend your network to locations where there are no power outlets. For example, you can install an access point, IP camera, Internet phone, etc.
Overload Device
The TL-SG1008P features the priority function* that helps protect the system when its resources are at their lowest. If the power consumption of the remotely powered PoE device is >= 53W, a priority is established among the PoE ports and then the system cuts off the power to the lowest priority port.
Port Priority Function
*Priority (port-1>port-2>port-3>port-4): This function helps protect the system when the power supply is overloaded. For example, if ports 1, 2, and 4 use 15.4W (the maximum power for one port is 15.4W), the system uses 46.2W in total (the Max PoE LED is red). If another PDU is inserted into port 3 with 10W, then the system will cut off port 4 to protect the system. This means that ports 1 and 2 will use 15.4W, port 3 will use 10W, and port 4 will use no power.
